On-call firefighter Joey Hawke finished an epic fundraising challenge by getting down on one knee to surprise his girlfriend – despite struggling with a painful injury. After suffering an accident at home, Lynn Iredale received support from the Charity last year. Now, to say thank you, her employers have made an incredible gesture. Manchester restaurant The Ivy hosted a charity circus event to raise funds for our Charity as means of thanking the firefighters who tackled January blaze. Last month, 53-year-old Carol Lord from Bolton swam the 22 miles of Loch Lomond in 19 hours. Here, she describes her experience of this incredibly difficult challenge and what motivated her to keep going.
